The Lomo Lubitel 166+ is a loving recreation of the Soviet-Era twin lens medium format camera. Featuring two lenses: one for viewing and one for capturing the image. Cast in plastic from original Lubitel molds, the 166+ is lightweight, perfect for an everyday companion. Completely manual controls provide for total control over everything that happens. A top down viewfinder provide a much larger image to compose shots with as well as making the composition process more thoughtful. Plus, much more discreet candid shooting! At the heart of the camera is the infamous multicoated glass lens, recreated to perfection to give those dramatic, soulful effects. Standard are a tripod thread mount and cable release threaded shutter. Get your hands on the 35mm kit and go from medium format to your favorite 35mm film with ease.

A good camera at the wrong price.

How do you rate a camera that in its day was intended as an amateur camera (Lubitel meaning Amateur in Russian), but has since become a hipster accessory? I'm going to try my best to give a fair and honest review. I purchased this camera from a flea market many moons ago, and this comes into play in my conclusion.COSTThis is my biggest concern with this camera. About 5 years ago, this camera could be purchased from flea markets, online auction sites and even some older camera stores for about a hundred bucks (go back another decade and we're talking the price of a coffee). Since then, The Lomographic Society purchased the "rights" to the sale and exportation of this camera from the former LOMO company. During that time, the price has skyrocketed. Now, I understand economics and business practices, and I understand that what the founders of the Lomographic Society have done is quite smart in these terms. I have to say, however, that paying $300 or so for an average quality TLR is a little exorbitant. Luckily I got mine before the price spike. To further prove what this sort of money can get you, I jumped on an online auction site and checked out last-minute auction prices for the following cameras, all in working condition and way above the 166+ in quality and design:Mamiya C330S - $335Minolta Autocord - $149Yashica D - $94Yashica Mat124 - $175I understand the draw of lomo cameras - I once had a collection that included ever lomo camera currently popularized (Smenas, TLRs and of course the LC-A), but the prices are simply too high for me to recommend them.QUALITY OF IMAGEThe quality of the images that you get with the Lubitel family really depends on your expectations. Many classify it as a "toy" camera, however this is incorrect. It was always intended to be a mainstream TLR, and was the budget option for many in the USSR during production. The triplet lens is quite decent, and while images can come out a little blurry and with some vignette, given the right circumstances, clear and sharp images *can* be made. HOWEVER, as noted above there are cameras in the same price range (and sometimes much cheaper) that will take infinitely better pictures.BUILDIt should also be noted that this camera is quite well made. True to Russian manufacturing form, it is heavy, strong and durable. Apart from the glass elements (which are the weak point of every camera) I have rarely seen a Lubitel that was in poor shape, even when scouring flea markets. The viewfinder is quite bright, and framing and focusing is relatively easy (but again, not compared to a Minoltacord or Rolleiflex). The magnifying glass that swings out REALLY makes a difference for fine focusing, and is a welcome feature.OVERALLI wouldn't recommend spending this much on an "amateur" TLR. Honestly spoken, this camera is worth about $60 fair market value, the majority of your money will be spent on marketing and packaging, rather than photographic quality. If you can find one of these at a flea market or similar, it is a wonderful camera to add to your collection, and has earned a permanent spot in my collection. If you want to spend this amount of money, check out the Minolta Autocord or even the Yashica Mat and Rolleiflex cameras, they will bring you many years of joy and high quality images.3.5/5

The date and time are recorded as part of the image information, so you'll never have to guess when your shots were taken. Determine image composition while looking into the large 1.8-inch TFT LCD monitor or viewfinder. The built-in LCD panel allows you to see the image you've taken, which will show you what portion of the scene will be captured by the camera. The 32 MB CompactFlash memory card allows you to store your photos. You can then view your shots and delete the ones you don't want, making room for pictures you want to keep as you take them. 5MP Camera?

Having sold digital cameras and knowing what a 5MP camera can really do... I would not recommend this camera after playing with the setting for several weeks I was only able to achive a grainy 4 x 6 any larger and you can for get it. i guess you really do get what you pay for!

Its now time to sell the Gateway and move to a Sony where you can find true quality in the product and the picture.

I won't drag this out!

Do Not Buy this camera! Far from user friendly...lsd display works only in very well lite areas....to take a picture you need to hold the button down for a good 5 or 6 seconds....heavy and bulky...batteries are dead in about 1 hour of actual use (no joke) takes 4 AA batteries. Not pleased at all...its on its way back to Amazon...exchanging for a Canon....don't let the 5mp sell you on this camera...i hope this sends you in a different direction....sorry I dragged this out..

I agree that it is not on par with other "5 megapixel" cameras, but it was also much more affordable. The picture quality was crisp and easy to transfer to my computer. No need to buy a docking station or other peripheral hardware. If you're looking for an affordable camera on a budget, this does the trick.

The viewfinder is one of the sticky ones. It is not the one that screws into the camera, like you see in the picture. False advertising. Not good for T3i DSLR.

Intova's unique and patented Unibody design builds the electronics directly into the buoyant, rugged, compact housing. Waterproof to 200 feet (60 meters), the housing includes buttons for full camera control in any environment. The SP1's high quality 1.5-inch LCD screen acts as both a viewfinder and playback monitor. The SP1 utilizes a standard 1/4" tripod thread to fit a wide range of Intova mount accessories (sold separately).

The Intova Sport Bar/Pole Mount is a seatpost and handlebar clamp for mounting your digital camera to tubes and frames ranging from 0.75 to 1.4" (1.9 - 3.5cm) in diameter. Features 3-way adjustability, stainless steel adjustment screws, and rubber damper. Compatible with standard tripod mounts found on most cameras.

The Intova Helmet Strap Mount keeps your digital camera mounted to your helmet. It keeps your hands free and allows you to stay focused on your activity. The MT-2 can also be used as spare straps and mount for custom fitting and rigging in any extreme shooting situation.

The Polaroid wireless viewfinder and trigger system for DSLR's gives you total camera control for up to 4 cameras at one time. It is not just a multi functional remote shutter release, it is also a remote viewfinder with a 3.5" LCD color panel

You will be able to see what the camera sees and control the shutter for up to 4 cameras at distances as far as 300 feet away. For some Canon models, you will be able to take remote command of the cameras video recording feature.

On the portable viewing screen, you will be able to see what is displayed on your cameras external viewing screen. If your camera has only a eye-level viewfinder, don't worry, the Polaroid transmitter has a built in camera which will let you see your subject from afar and store pictures in the both the remote receiver and your camera.
Use it for self portrait, capturing shots of wild animals in their own habitat, insect behavior studies or for everyday use.

Polaroid Wireless LiveView Viewfinder

I just received this system yesterday and am returning it today. I purchased it to take wildlife photos and expected it to have continuous shutter firing as advertised. It does not. After setting my 7D and the receiver for continuous shooting and pressing the shutter button on the receiver the shutter fired ( very slowly ) twice and then stopped. I have ordered another brand and hopefully will have better luck with it.
