Does NOT have a diopter as advertised!

While this is a great VF for people with perfect vision, it is not the one you wanna buy, if you are thinking about using it without glasses.This thing is advertised with having a +4/-4 diopter. Well that is complete non-nense.I have disassembled this viewfinder and there is no diopter mechanism. All the "diopter" wheel does, is to change the distance between the optics and the LCD display. It does therefore adjust the image sharpness for people with perfect vision, but does not at all compensate for people with near- or farsightedness. A real diopter mechanism would change the focal length of the lenses, which this one clearly does not.Again, if you are looking for a viewfinder to use without your glasses, then look somewhere else.

Just Perfect! a MUST HAVE. Also a "problem solver" review

This product is the perfect replacement to zacuto's version. I have done real side by side comparison and I'm amazed by it.The only difference is the way zacuto attaches their own lenses to the actual plastic piece. The best part is that you can even use Zacuto's mounting frames if yours ever break (which it wont!) The magnification is the same as zacuto's, same sharpness, same eyecup material and size ( even tho the attachment size of the threaded ring of the eyecup is different and I think a lot more secured than theirs actually). This is why if you buy zacuto's V2 upgrade kit (eyecup & lens cap) it won't work on this unit. The boot ( thread's accordion protective plastic) WILL however work perfectly AND so will the antifog disks if you cut them to size and unscrew the lens unit itself.No Image pincushion whatsoever, except ( as zacuto's) the one created by the angle of view ( if you move your eye a bit to the left or right it will fix the angle of view and eliminate the any Image pincushion). I also ended up purchasing the red padded eyecup "Bluestar chamois eye cushion" which is simply a MUST have.IF YOUR DIOPTER DOESNT WORK or you get minimal adjustment of image via diopter (mostly out of focus all the way through) it means It was assembled WRONG or you are far or near sighted - not sure which one LOL. I fixed it by opening the unit, taking the lenses out and switching the top lens with the first one, putting it back together, no glue, no nothing, just as it came and thats all! Before doing this I had the same Issue, my diopter only worked for me BARELY when it was all the way tight to the unit and it would only become WORSE if I zoomed it out!. If i was to put my finger inside the frame opening I could actually see that the focus was set way too close to the center of the unit rather than the end of the frame where the actual screen would be! This was weird, but after fixing this, my diopter worked beautifully! 100% sharp.This process may NOT be needed if your eyes are far or near sighted ( not sure which one LOL). I'm not even sure if my unit was assembled wrong or not.... I just know I fixed it and I can see clearly now! :)I hope this helps to any of you out there trying to decide what to get. DO NOT buy the $119 VF Prime DSLR Camera LCD Viewfinder for 3" LCD version, it's the same product for $20 more and a crappy ugly yellow necklace LOL! I'm SURPRISED "SEARS.com" is actually selling them at all! and for $213...crazy. Go with this one and you dont regret it! :)

Affordable LCD VF with a Diopter

This is the least expensive option for an LCD viewfinder with an adjustable diopter that I could find. There are cheaper VF's out there but they lack a diopter and with my eyes not being what they used to be, I needed something with image correction. I was pleasantly surprised at what I received. Overall the unit is quite well made. The build quality is amazing for the money. The body is made of a nice, thick plastic with no flex and it has a large, comfortable eyecup. It mounts to the camera via an adhesive frame (like Zacuto). The VF then snaps on to the frame and the attachment is tight and very secure. It has sharp, clear optics. There is some slight pincushioning when looking through the eyepiece, but that is to be expected with a 3x magnification. I didn't find it objectionable. The diopter works, but seems to have minimal affect on the image. I found the image fine for my eyes right out of the box, but it can be fine tuned if needed (YMMV). The unit looks very similar to the Zacuto Z-Finder. I have never used a Z-Finder, so I can't make a direct comparison. I bought it for use with my Canon 7D and it is a perfect fit. It will also fit the Canon T2i/550D LCD (though just barely). My biggest gripe is Seagull only includes one adhesive frame. The frames can't cost much, so supplying a second one would have been nice. I haven't been able to find spare frames yet. I am hoping that Go-Shot Camera will start selling them separately or hopefully the Zacuto Z-frame will be compatible.Pros:-Cheap!-Solid build quality-Good optics-Diopter-Large comfortable eyecup-Cheap!Cons:-Only comes with a single mounting frame-Image pincushions slightly-Minimal adjustment of image via diopter
